Description

This lot features two ceramic vases of distinct English manufacture. The larger vase is a piece of Denby stoneware in the Daybreak pattern. It has an ovoid body with a flared rim and is finished in a speckled cream-coloured glaze with a transfer-printed floral design of daisies. The base is marked with the Denby backstamp, including the pattern name Daybreak and Handcrafted Made in England Fine Stoneware. The smaller vase is an earthenware piece from the Decoro range, dating to the early 20th century. It is designed in a gourd shape and exhibits hand-painted Art Nouveau decoration of a bird amongst foliage on a dark green ground. The base displays the Decoro factory mark featuring a pitcher logo, the registration number 429479, and handwritten pattern numbers 701 and xx.

Denby vase: Height 20 cm
Decoro vase: Height 17 cm.
