Lot 113:
Description
A figural triple-light table lamp designed by artist Peter Mook, titled Confidence. The lamp features a central figure of Charlie Chaplin in his iconic role as The Tramp, depicted wearing a bowler hat, tight jacket, and baggy trousers while leaning on a cane. The figure stands on a circular base with a cobbled-effect finish. The front of the base displays a raised decorative banner inscribed with the word CONFIDENCE, and the rear of the base bears the incised signature of Peter Mook. From behind the figure, three dark-patinated metal stems rise and arch outwards, each supporting a lily-form iridescent glass shade with a graduated colour transition from amber to green. The central figure and base are constructed from a painted resin or composite material. The lamp is fitted with a black power cable and a white UK three-pin plug.
Height: 56 cm (22 inches)
Base Diameter: 25.5 cm (10 inches).
Condition report:
The lamp shows visible signs of age and wear. There are several areas of paint loss and chipping, most notably on the toes and heels of the figure\'s shoes and the lower sections of the trousers. Minor scuffs and white marks are present on the reverse of the figure\'s legs. The three iridescent glass shades appear to be in good condition with no visible chips or cracks. Surface dust has accumulated in the recessed areas of the sculpture. The lamp is sold as an electrical item for decorative purposes only; it is untested and professional rewiring by a qualified electrician is recommended before use.
