Description
A vintage Charley Chimp battery-operated mechanical monkey toy. The figure is constructed with dark brown plush fur over a mechanical internal frame, featuring a flesh-coloured vinyl face with large articulated eyes and yellow plastic ears. The monkey is dressed in a traditional performer’s outfit consisting of a red felt fez-style hat, a plaid vest over a white satin-style ruffled shirt with a red bow tie, and black trousers with white side stripes. The figure has yellow plastic hands holding two small brass-toned metal cymbals and wears moulded red plastic shoes. This model is commonly identified as Charley Chimp.

Condition report:
The item is in used condition and remains untested; its operational status is unknown. The plush fur and fabric clothing show general age-related wear and light accumulation of dust. There is minor fraying to the lace ruffles on the shirt. A significant visible repair is present on the reverse of the red vest, where a bead of clear, dried adhesive has been applied along the central vertical seam. The red plastic shoes show minor scuffs and surface marks. The original box is not present.
