Description
A large silver coin pendant featuring a 1780 Maria Theresa Thaler restrike. The coin obverse depicts the bust of Empress Maria Theresa facing right, with the circumscribed legend M THERESIA D G R IMP HU BO REG and the mint master initials S.F. below the bust for Tobias Schobl and Joseph Faby. The reverse displays the imperial double-headed eagle with the legend ARCHID AVST DUX BURG CO TYR 1780 X. The coin is secured within a circular decorative white metal mount by four tabs. The mount features an inner openwork border of repetitive wire loops in a filigree style, finished with an outer twisted rope-work edge. A circular suspension bale is attached at the top. The coin is struck in .833 fineness silver.
Condition report:
The coin shows moderate wear to the high points of the design on both sides, including the Empress\'s bust and the imperial eagle. There is a general patina and light tarnishing across both the coin and the mount. The mount is structurally sound with no visible damage to the filigree work.
