Description
An open-faced mechanical pocket watch featuring a white enamel dial with black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute track with diamond-shaped indices, and black steel hands including a spade-form hour hand. The dial is printed with LEO above the serial number 8051. The sterling silver case features elaborate floral and foliate engraving to the reverse, surrounding a central vacant shield-shaped cartouche. The interior of the case is hallmarked for Birmingham, 1894, with the lion passant, anchor assay office mark, and lowercase serif date letter u. It bears the serial number 8051 above a letter C, matching the dial. The watch is key-wound and key-set via two apertures in the silver cuvette.
Case size: Approximately 45mm to 50mm.
Condition report:
The silver case exhibits significant tarnishing and fine surface scratches throughout, consistent with age and use. The engraving remains relatively crisp. The enamel dial appears largely intact with minor surface debris and possible faint hairline marks visible under magnification. The crystal shows light surface abrasions. The mechanical movement is untested as no winding key is present; functionality and timekeeping accuracy are unknown.
