Lot 149:
Description
A set of seven oval-stamped brass identification tags associated with the British Railways Eastern Region. Each tag is stamped with B.R (E.REG) at the top, followed by a central identification number above a horizontal line, and SH’LD (WICK) — ENG.S at the bottom. The set includes tags numbered 119, 120, 121, 122, 123, 124, and 125. The marking ENG.S suggests these were used by the Engineer’s Department, likely as tool checks or locker identification. The tags are manufactured from solid brass with recessed stamped lettering.
Condition report:
The tags are in good vintage condition with an aged brass patina. Surface scratching and minor abrasions are visible across the set. Tag 120 shows a small patch of green verdigris on the right edge. Tag 124 displays more significant dark surface tarnish than the other items in the group.
