Lot 160:
Description
A mid-20th century butterfly brooch crafted in sterling silver. The design features outspread wings decorated with translucent green guilloché enamel over a fine radiating engraved pattern. The central body is finished with a layer of opaque white enamel. The wing segments are delineated by fine silver-tone lines representing naturalistic veining. The reverse is stamped with the words STERLING SILVER on the lower-left wing. The brooch is fitted with a horizontal pin, a tube hinge, and a rolling safety catch.
Condition report:
The enamel to the front is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or significant surface scratches. The sterling silver reverse exhibits tarnish and oxidation consistent with age. The pin mechanism is in good working order.
