Description
A late nineteenth-century Swiss open-face pocket watch. The watch features a solid .935 silver case hallmarked with the Swiss standing bear stamps and a 0.935 purity mark, dating between 1882 and 1934. The interior case back is incised with serial number 73049. The reverse of the case is intricately decorated with foliate and floral engravings bordering a central engine-turned field with a vacant shield-shaped cartouche. The white enamel dial displays black Roman numeral hour markers and a railroad-style minute track with diamond accents at the quarters. It is equipped with a manual key-wind and key-set movement, indicated by two winding apertures in the inner silver cuvette. The dial features three hands, including a thin central hand.
Case size: 40mm diameter.
Condition report:
The watch is in antique condition showing surface tarnishing and minor scratches to the silver case. The protective crystal is missing. The white enamel dial appears well-preserved with no significant hairline cracks or chips visible. The movement is untested and mechanical functionality is unknown; no winding key is included. Hand-scratched watchmaker service marks are present inside the case back.
