Description

A collection of three miscellaneous salt spoons of various designs. The first spoon features a circular bowl with a twisted stem and a ball finial. It is struck with full London sterling silver hallmarks to the reverse of the bowl, including the maker mark J.E.S for James Edwin Smith, the lion passant, the leopard head for the London assay office, and the date letter o for 1909. The second spoon is of Continental origin, featuring a shell-shaped bowl and a handle decorated with chased scrollwork and a vacant oval cartouche, marked 835 for silver purity. The third spoon has a circular bowl and a handle decorated with embossed floral and foliate motifs; marks are present to the reverse of the handle but are illegible.
