Description
A pair of cast brass decorative mounts featuring neoclassical caryatid figures, likely intended for architectural or high-end furniture ornamentation. Each mount depicts a female head with an elaborate beaded and foliate headdress, supported by a tapering body decorated with acanthus scrolls, floral rosettes, and a central sunburst-style motif, all terminating in a stepped rectangular plinth. The reverse of each piece is hollow-cast and features a central threaded mounting bolt for attachment, one of which retains a metal washer. No maker’s marks or foundry stamps are visible on the items. The items exhibit a dark chocolate brown patina with the golden-toned base metal visible on high points and edges. The casting detail is characteristic of late 19th or early 20th-century Empire revival styles.

Condition report:
Wear to the dark patina is visible on high-relief areas including the face, headdress, and base edges. Surface oxidation and minor spots of green verdigris are present, particularly on the reverse side. The integrated threaded mounting bolts show surface rust and age-related wear. Minor casting pits and surface irregularities are present, inherent to the manufacturing process.
