Description
A set of seven traditional Russian matryoshka nesting dolls, crafted from lathe-turned wood and decorated with hand-painted floral motifs in vibrant colours under a clear lacquer finish. The dolls depict stylised female figures in traditional Russian folk costume, each featuring a green headscarf (platok) and a black apron (sarafan) adorned with a basket of pink and yellow flowers. The design follows a classic Russian folk art style typical of production from the mid-to-late 20th century. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the dolls.
Height of largest doll: approximately 17 – 18 cm.
Condition report:
The set is complete and remains in good vintage condition. There is minor surface wear and light scuffing to the lacquer finish consistent with age and handling. Small areas of paint loss are visible on the edges and bases. All seven dolls are structurally sound with no significant cracks or damage to the wood.
