Description
An assortment of football matchday programmes and club magazines, primarily focusing on Everton FC and spanning from the early 1960s to the early 2000s. The group includes a landscape-format souvenir publication titled Everton Football Club… A souvenir in words and pictures of the Goodison success story of 1962-63, priced at 2/6. Multiple issues of the Everton Official Matchday Magazine from the 1970s are present, including fixtures against Leeds United (19th December 1970) and Stoke City (13th March 1971). From the 1980s, the collection features programmes for Everton v Manchester United (27th October 1984), Everton v Ipswich Town (FA Cup Sixth Round, 9th March 1985), Everton v Arsenal (23rd March 1985), and Everton v Charlton Athletic (21st March 1987). Away fixtures include Arsenal v Everton and Luton Town v Everton. A later Chelsea official matchday magazine for the fixture against Leicester City (13th October 2001) is also included. The publications feature various period advertisements and sponsorships, such as Planters Nuts, Wang, and Apollo 2000.
Condition report:
The items are in a mixed, used condition consistent with age. Observable wear includes surface creasing, thumbing marks to corners, and general edge wear. The 1962-63 souvenir programme shows more significant creasing. Some older issues exhibit light foxing and natural yellowing to the paper stock. Occasional vertical fold marks are present on several covers.
