Description
A trio of Indian decorative boxes constructed from embossed oxidised aluminium sheeting over wooden carcasses. The collection comprises one large jewellery box and two graduated rectangular chests. The large jewellery box features a hinged lid with a repoussé scene depicting a herd of elephants in a tropical landscape with palm trees and foliage, enclosed by a foliate border. The interior is lined with red velvet and contains multiple ring rolls and a gathered pocket to the inner lid. The two smaller chests feature all-over embossed floral and foliate scrolling patterns with central panels to the lids. All boxes are lined in red velvet and secured with simple metal clasps. An interior label is present reading HANDICRAFT Made in India.

Condition report:
Overall good condition. The exterior surfaces show light oxidation and tarnish consistent with age and material. Minor scuffing is present at the corners and base edges. The interior velvet linings remain in good order with light signs of use. One box contains a loose cardboard base liner that has become detached from the velvet floor.
