Description
A professional Boehm system B-flat clarinet manufactured by Buffet Crampon and Cie, Paris. The instrument is crafted from African Blackwood (grenadilla) and features metal keywork. It is comprised of five separate sections: a metal mouthpiece with ligature and cap, barrel, upper joint, lower joint, and bell. The classic Buffet Crampon engraved mark is present on the barrel and bell, featuring a lyre above the maker’s name and Paris location within an oval border, with the BC monogram below. The instrument is presented in a black plastic hard-shell case with a red plush interior, featuring a retailer label for J and L Dawkes Wind Instrument Centre, Taplow. Serial numbers are not visible in the provided photographs.
Condition report:
The wooden body sections appear to be in good cosmetic condition with no significant cracks observed. The metal keywork shows visible surface tarnishing and patina throughout, consistent with age and use. Natural cork tenon joints show signs of compression and wear. The internal pads have not been inspected for airtightness and likely require a professional overhaul. The hard-shell case exhibits minor external scuffing.
