Description
An assortment of vintage and antique boxes featuring various decorative techniques and materials. The collection includes a marquetry box with intricate floral and scroll inlays, a mirrored interior lid, and a pink velvet-lined base, with script on the front lower edge reading Sorrento. The group features a large octagonal wooden presentation case with a black velvet-lined interior and a metal key. Also included is a silver-tone metal repousse box decorated with dense foliate and scroll motifs, and a black lacquered box with painted floral and gilt borders and a red-lined interior. A yellow-painted wooden trinket box with black floral decoration and a brass-tone latch is present, along with several other wooden boxes featuring various fabric linings in red, black, and tan materials.
Measurements range from approximately 4 inches to 15 inches in length.
Condition report:
Items exhibit varying degrees of wear consistent with age and use. Visible surface scratches, dust, and wear to the finishes are present across the collection. The interior of the large octagonal box shows an accumulation of lint and debris. Fabric linings show age-related fading and light staining.
