Description
A collection of three vintage wooden sports rattles, traditionally used as noisemakers by supporters at football matches in the United Kingdom during the mid-20th century. The largest item is a double-bladed rattle featuring a blue-painted frame and a turned wooden handle finished in a cream colour. The natural-finish wooden blades are hand-lettered in pink ink with the text POMPEY, the common nickname for Portsmouth Football Club. The medium-sized rattle consists of a single-bladed mechanism within a dark-stained frame featuring a red central component and a dark-stained handle. The smallest rattle is constructed with red-painted side rails, a natural wood centre, and a black-painted handle. This example is distinguished by a black-painted ball finial at the top of the frame and a small red circular mark on the base.

Condition report:
The items are in good vintage, play-worn condition. There is visible paint loss, surface scuffing, and general wear to the wooden edges consistent with age and use on football terraces. The hand-lettered text on the Pompey rattle shows some fading and minor staining. All mechanical components appear intact.
