Description
This lot comprises a pair of vintage Soviet-era triangular fabric pennants, or vimpels, associated with the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Metallurgical Industry Workers. The pennants are fashioned from a red synthetic fabric featuring a red and white twisted cord border and a white tassel. The central white-printed design on both pennants depicts an industrial gear framing a ladle pouring molten metal. Five lines of white Cyrillic text above the motif transcribe as: ЦЕНТРАЛЬНЫЙ КОМИТЕТ ПРОФСОЮЗА РАБОЧИХ МЕТАЛЛУРГИЧЕСКОЙ ПРОМЫШЛЕННОСТИ. Adorning the pennants is a collection of Soviet-era metal and enamel lapel pins, known as znachki. The pins include a significant grouping related to the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, specifically featuring the mascot Misha the bear in various athletic activities. Additionally, the collection contains commemorative pins for the city of Sochi, various sanatoriums, and portrait pins of Vladimir Lenin and Nikolai Ostrovsky.

Condition report:
The red fabric of the pennants exhibits light fading and minor surface soiling. The central white screen-printed graphics on both items show significant age-related degradation, with widespread cracking and flaking of the ink. The tassels are slightly frayed. The pins are generally in good condition, showing minor surface tarnish, oxidation, and light wear consistent with age.
