Description

A mid-20th-century Swiss-made miniature carriage clock by Swiza. The rectangular brass case is inset with red-striated faux-bois decorative side panels and features a fixed T-bar handle to the top. The circular silvered dial has a sunburst finish, black Roman numeral hour markers, and black baton-style hands with a central alarm-setting hand. The dial is signed SWIZA 8 below the twelve o’clock position and SWISS MADE at the six o’clock position. The reverse features a brass backplate with controls for the 8-day mechanical movement and alarm function, marked PATENT PENDING, ALARM SET, PULL-ON, and PUSH-OFF.
Width 7.5 cm, Height (excluding handle) 9.5 cm.

Condition report:

The brass case shows visible surface tarnishing and oxidation throughout, particularly to the top and base sections. There are scuffs and scratches to the gilded finish on the base. The red decorative panels appear to be in good condition with no visible cracks. The dial and hands are well-preserved behind the glass. The backplate has surface scratches and a small patch of adhesive residue near the centre. The movement and alarm function have not been tested for timekeeping accuracy or working order.
