Lot 159:
Description
A West German plastic mechanical metronome featuring a figure mahogany wood-grain finish and a clear removable front cover. The instrument is constructed in a traditional pyramid form with a metal pendulum and adjustable sliding weight. The internal scale plate is printed with the brand name Wittner and a stylized tuning fork logo in a diamond. The side of the original cardboard box repeats these details along with the text MADE IN W. GERMANY and SYSTEM MÄLZEL. An adhesive label on the base of the box specifies the model number 802 K and the finish as figure mahogany. The box features yellow illustrations of musical instruments including a grand piano, harp, and violins.
Condition report:
The metronome appears to be in good cosmetic condition with the clear plastic cover intact (photo 3). The original cardboard packaging shows significant signs of wear including creasing, surface losses, and tearing to the top flap and corners (photo 1 and 2). The internal mechanical movement has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy.
