A Gold military style flagpole finial featuring a cast metal eagle perched upon a spherical globe. The eagle is depicted in a displayed posture with outspread wings and its head turned to the dexter side, with detailed textured casting across the body and plumage. The globe is mounted upon a hollow cylindrical ferrule designed to slide over a flagpole, incorporating a single pre-drilled hole for a securing screw. The entire piece is finished in gold. There are no maker’s marks, manufacturer labels, or country of origin marks visible on the figure or the mounting base.
Width: 20.3 cm.
Height: 19 cm.
Condition report:
The finial shows moderate wear to the gold finish, particularly visible in the recessed areas of the wings and across the surface of the globe (photo 1). The reverse side shows similar finish wear and dark oxidation to the tail and wing tips (photo 2). The mounting ferrule displays surface scratches and minor tarnishing consistent with use (photo 1). The casting remains structurally sound with no visible breaks to the beak or wing extremities.
