Lot 180:
Description
A Gold Plated miniature teapot featuring a lobed body and a matching fitted lid surmounted by a spherical finial. The piece is decorated in the cloisonne technique, with intricate wirework forming a gold ground filled with polychrome floral motifs and scrolling foliage in shades of white, green and cobalt blue. The curved spout is detailed with a reddish-brown scale pattern, and the handle and rims are finished in gold. The interior and the base are coated in a plain turquoise blue enamel. There are no legible marks or inscriptions present on the piece.
Height: 6.5 cm
Length: 12.7 cm.
Condition report:
The teapot is in good auctionable condition with no visible chips or losses to the enamel (photo 1). The metalwork shows minimal wear to the gold surfaces. There is minor surface pitting inherent to the firing of the cloisonne enamel, and the base exhibits light surface scuffing consistent with shelf wear (photo 2).
