A Chinese Export style Silver plated bowl of shallow circular form with a lobed rim, featuring high-relief repoussé and chased decoration. The interior centre is worked with a medallion depicting a coiled dragon amongst stylised clouds and waves. The sloping sides are further decorated with two dragons in pursuit of the flaming pearl, interspersed with rectangular panels and openwork pierced grids. One panel contains two vertically stacked Chinese characters, while a corresponding panel depicts a tiered pagoda. The bowl is supported by three applied ball feet. The underside reveals the reverse of the central dragon motif.
Diameter: 11.5 cm.
Condition report:
The bowl is in good structural condition with no visible dents, splits, or repairs. Significant dark tarnish and oxidation are present across the exterior and within the recessed areas of the interior decoration (Photos 1, 2, 3).
