Lot 182:
Description
A heavy Silver metal figurine modelled in the form of a standing Victorian street musician, depicted as an organ grinder with a performing monkey. The figure wears a heavy overcoat and trousers and features a full, textured beard. He supports a barrel organ by a shoulder strap and a single leg-stand, with a small monkey perched on top of the instrument. The figure is mounted on an integral base textured to resemble cobblestones. The rear upper surface of the base bears four small recessed stamps, though the characters are not legible as a name. The underside is finished with a black felt protective pad.
Width: 7.5 cm.
Condition report:
Tarnish is present throughout the recessed areas of the figure and base (photo 1). A small casting flaw or chip is visible on the rear right corner of the metal base (photo 2). The felt pad on the underside shows surface wear and is starting to peel at one corner (photo 2).
