A Moorish style brass hanging lantern featuring an intricate pierced and cast construction. The hexagonal body is inset with six panels of textured glass, each bearing a pressed star and geometric pattern. The metalwork displays complex foliate and geometric fretwork throughout. The lantern is surmounted by a domed, pierced top section decorated with scrollwork, terminating in a central pointed finial and six smaller cast finials at the corners. The lower section tapers to a spherical base with pierced star-shaped apertures, finished with a final drop finial. The interior is fitted with a single light socket and is wired with a length of white twin-core PVC cable. Two iron-link hanging chains are attached to the upper gallery. No maker marks or signatures are present. The lantern has been electrified and is sold for decorative purposes; it must be inspected and rewired by a qualified electrician before use.
