Lot 24:
Description
A Silver coin pendant featuring a Maria Theresa Thaler restrike coin. The central silver coin is held within an ornate openwork circular frame, which consists of a scalloped inner border and a twisted-wire outer edge. The pendant is fitted with a fixed jump ring and a simple loop bail at the top. The obverse of the coin depicts a profile bust of the Empress Maria Theresa and is inscribed M · THERESIA · D · G · R · IMP · HU · BO · REG · with the letters S.F. below the bust. The reverse features the imperial double-headed eagle and is inscribed ARCHID · AUST · DUX · BURG · CO · TYR · 1780 · X. There are no additional assay marks or maker marks present on the frame.
Condition report:
The pendant displays an aged patina with dark tarnish concentrated in the recessed areas of the openwork frame and the coin\'s relief (photos 1 and 2). There is moderate surface wear to the high points of the Empress\'s profile and the double-headed eagle, consistent with age and use (photos 1 and 2). The frame and bail appear structurally sound with no visible breaks to the wirework.
