Lot 277:
Description
A Silver radiator mascot modelled as a stylised cockerel in a forward-leaning pose with wings spread. The figure is cast with detailed feathering and a prominent comb and wattle, perched upon a textured integral base. This base is incised to the side with the text REGD IN GT BRITAIN No 802072. The mascot is mounted onto a flared rectangular display stand finished in a dark grey paint, featuring a recessed panel to the front with raised lettering reading SINGER MOTORS. The piece displays a pitted surface texture where the original finish has worn to reveal the underlying metal.
Length: 7.5 cm
Height: 11.5 cm
Width: 7.5 cm.
Condition report:
Widespread pitting and surface wear to the silver plating across the body of the cockerel, particularly visible on the wings and back (photo 1). The tip of the beak shows minor blunting (photo 3). The display base exhibits multiple scuffs, scratches, and paint loss along the lower edges and corners (photo 2). Accumulated dust and light oxidation are present within the recessed details of the casting.
