Description
A vintage electric slot car racing set manufactured by Minimodels Ltd for Tri-ang. The set comprises four racing cars including two open-wheel Grand Prix style vehicles and two sports racing models, finished in red and blue plastic with printed racing numbers and plastic driver figures. The collection includes multiple sections of black curved plastic track and white plastic trackside fencing featuring printed decals for Shell X-100 Motor Oil and K.L.G. Sparking Plugs. A Smoothflow transformer unit is included, housed in a blue hammer-finish metal casing with a red printed label and screw terminals, contained within its original internal cardboard carton. The entire set is housed in a large-format pictorial cardboard box featuring a racing scene and a chequered flag motif, complete with yellow cardboard internal dividers. The box lid bears the printed text Tri-ang PRODUCT, SCALEXTRIC REGD, and MADE IN ENGLAND BY MINIMODELS LTD – HAVANT – HANTS.

Condition report:
The cardboard box is in poor to fair condition, exhibiting significant structural damage including large tears and split corners (photo 1). There is a puncture hole near the centre of the lid and evidence of surface paper loss and staining throughout. The four racing cars show signs of heavy play wear including surface scuffing and paint loss to the driver figures; the red open-wheel car number 20 is missing its clear plastic windshield (photo 2). The plastic fencing is slightly warped and the track sections appear dusty. The internal yellow cardboard packaging is torn and crushed in multiple areas (photo 3). The metal casing of the power unit shows surface dirt and minor oxidation to the terminals (photo 4). The internal carton for the power unit is heavily damaged and torn. The unit is untested for electrical safety.
