Description

A Victorian Silver open-face pocket watch featuring a white enamel dial with black Roman numeral hour markers and a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o’clock position. The timepiece is fitted with blued steel spade hour and minute hands under a domed mineral glass crystal. The manual key-wind and key-set movement is accessed through a hinged case back and internal dust cover, with the winding arbor visible through an aperture in the cover. The silver case features a coin-edged middle section and a circular suspension ring at the top. The interior of the case back and the dust cover bear legible marks including a lion passant, the Chester city mark, the date letter I for 1892, the serial number 286, and the mark L J F.
Diameter: 5.1 cm.

Condition report:

The silver case displays natural oxidation and tarnish throughout with scattered light surface scratches consistent with age and use (photo 2). The subsidiary seconds hand is missing, leaving only the central hub (photo 1). The dial remains generally clean though some fine dust and debris is visible under the crystal, particularly near the centre post (photo 1). The movement is untested.
