Lot 5:
Description
A WWII German Kriegsmarine miniature officer’s dagger featuring a white spiral-grooved synthetic grip with twisted wire wrap. The hilt is constructed from cast metal with a crossguard featuring a central fouled anchor emblem on both sides, terminating in ribbed spherical quillon ends. The pommel is modelled as a Reichsadler eagle with outspread wings clutching a wreathed swastika. The dagger is fitted with a double-edged, unfullered steel blade and retains a red felt buffer at the throat. An attached white card tag bears the handwritten inscription WW2 German Kriegsmarine mini Dagger / letter opener.
Total length: 24.1 cm
Blade length: 15.9 cm.
Condition report:
The dagger shows age-consistent wear. The cast metal hilt components exhibit surface oxidation, pitting, and loss to the original plating (photo 3). The steel blade shows dulling and surface spotting (photo 4). The white synthetic grip and wire wrap are intact and remain tight to the tang (photo 3). The red felt washer shows minor compression (photo 3). This example is presented without a scabbard.
