Description
A vintage Gold cocktail ring in a tiered sunburst or cluster arrangement, featuring a central oval-cut garnet of deep brownish-red colour. This primary stone is held in an elevated openwork gallery with multiple prongs, surrounded by two concentric tiers of approximately 28 round-cut pyrope garnets. The setting comprises an inner row of 12 stones and an outer row of 16 stones, all individually prong-set to create a high-profile "beehive" aesthetic. The interior of the shank is stamped with the number 9, followed by two illegible characters, which is characteristic of 9 carat gold. A further mark is present lower on the band but cannot be deciphered.
Length: 2.5 cm.
Condition report:
The ring shows signs of significant age and wear. The central garnet exhibits visible surface abrasions, scratches, and facet wear (photo 1 and 2). The yellow metal gallery and the underside of the setting show heavy tarnish, oxidation, and accumulated dirt in the recessed areas (photo 3 and 4). The shank appears slightly misshapen (photo 4).
