Description
A varied assortment of vintage collectibles and maritime instruments presented on a mahogany twin-handled tray. The group includes a large circular brass compass mounted within a turned wooden base, featuring a compass card with a fleur-de-lis north pointer. A copper alarm clock by Peter features a white dial with Arabic numerals and twin bells. The collection further comprises an Ever Ready box lantern with a wooden casing and brass-rimmed lens, bearing a metal plaque reading EVER READY. A barometer and thermometer set is mounted within a brass horseshoe on a wooden plinth, featuring a small brass plaque with script. Decorative items include a faceted glass paperweight, a circular glass paperweight etched with a crown emblem and the words ROUGE PRESTON, and a snow globe depicting a figure at a dressing table on a floral black base. The lot also contains a circular brass-cased instrument with a light-coloured dial, two miniature firearm models, a silver spoon with an embossed bowl, and a small cylindrical tool with a black handle. The rectangular wooden tray features a raised gallery and turned wooden handles with brass mounts.
Condition report:
The copper alarm clock shows visible oxidation and surface patina to the body and bells (photo 1). The wooden lantern case displays scuffing and wear to the finish on the edges (photo 1). The circular brass compass base shows light surface wear (photo 2). The horseshoe mount and brass casing of the ship instrument exhibit moderate tarnishing (photo 1). The wooden tray has light surface scratches and wear to the stained finish consistent with use (photo 2).
