Description

Two Edwardian mahogany mantel clocks featuring decorative wood marquetry. The first clock is a lancet top or dome-top design with a vertical grain veneer and a central inlaid marquetry patera in an oval cartouche. It features a white circular dial with black Arabic numerals, a railroad track minute ring, and thin black hands, supported by four wooden bun feet. The rear brass movement plate is stamped with a device depicting a rampant lion or similar heraldic beast. The second clock features a waisted, shaped case with decorative light wood stringing and foliate marquetry inlays to the front corners. It has a white circular dial with black Roman numerals, fleur-de-lis style hands, and sits on four metal bun feet. Both clocks have mechanical spring-driven movements and include their respective detached circular rear dust covers. A winding key is present in the rear of the waisted clock.

Condition report:

Both clocks exhibit surface wear consistent with age, including scratches, scuffs, and finish loss to the wooden cases, particularly along the bases and edges (photo 1). The brass bezels show oxidation and patina. The rear dust covers are detached for both items (photo 2). The movements are untested.
