Lot 141:
Description
A pair of glazed ceramic figurines depicting ginger and white tabby cats in lifelike feline postures. One figurine represents a cat in a low-crouching or prowling stance with front paws tucked under the chest, while the other shows a cat in a reclining position with front paws extended forward. Both pieces feature a high-gloss orange and white glaze finish with painted tabby stripes and glass-like inset amber-coloured eyes. The underside of each base is marked with a circular black printed backstamp reading STAFFORDSHIRE JUST CATS & CO. ENGLAND. Additionally, each cat bears a circular adhesive paper label featuring a Union Jack flag motif and the text MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN.
Length: 25.4 cm
Length: 28 cm.
Condition report:
Both figurines are in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or restorations. Fine surface crazing is present within the white glaze on the underside of both bases (photo 4), which is a common characteristic of glazed earthenware and does not affect structural integrity.
