Description
A collection of vintage technical drawing and calculating instruments comprising multiple cased sets and loose tools. The largest set is housed in a black velvet-lined case containing nickel-plated brass and steel compasses, dividers, and ruling pens, accompanied by a handwritten note reading LOTTER GERMAN. A second set is presented in a red velvet-lined case and includes various compasses and a small green plastic pencil sharpener. A further black cased set contains a green translucent plastic template or stencil. The collection features two slide rules: a Thornton plastic 10 inch slide rule in a white protective sleeve printed with a black letter H logo and the text THORNTON 10 inch slide rules instructions for use, and a secondary wooden slide rule in a black case. Additional items include a wooden six-fold rule, a yellowed rectangular graph board with an engraved logarithmic grid, a box of red marking chalk sticks embossed with MADE IN ENGLAND, and two unused retail-packaged sets of Yutiars Professional Artist Brushes. A wooden wall-mounted rule is marked MADE IN ENGLAND with visible inch markers.
Condition report:
The Lotter drafting set shows surface oxidation and pitting to the steel components (photo 3). The velvet linings of all presentation cases exhibit significant dust accumulation and lint (photo 3). The red velvet case shows surface wear and fraying to the exterior edges (photo 4). The white Thornton slide rule sleeve has yellowing and minor staining (photo 4). The wooden folding rule displays surface scuffing and darkening to the brass hinges (photo 2). The artist brushes remain sealed in original plastic packaging (photo 1).
