Description
A cast iron mechanical bank modelled as a bust featuring a red jacket with a white collar. The item is designed with a lever mechanism to the reverse which, when operated, moves the right hand towards the open mouth while simultaneously rolling the eyes. The figure is finished with a black body colour and vibrant red lips. The reverse of the base features a single slotted screw head used for assembly. There are no legible maker marks or patent inscriptions visible on the exterior of the casting. The interior mechanism is accessed via a base plate which is secured to the main body.

Condition report:
The paint finish is significantly distressed with extensive flaking and loss across the head, face, and collar (photo 1). The red paint on the jacket and lips remains largely intact but shows scattered small chips (photo 1). The cast iron surface displays areas of oxidation and pitting, particularly where the paint has failed (photo 1 and 2). The mechanical lever is present on the reverse, though its internal operation has not been tested (photo 2).
