Description
A decorative desk compass featuring a circular dark hardwood base and a high-profile magnifying glass dome. The internal compass dial is printed on a light-coloured ground and contains a central four-point star needle with a brass-toned pivot. The dial is marked with a degree scale divided into four 90-degree quadrants and features cardinal directions with South at the top and North at the bottom. The dial bears the cursive script Stanley and London. The magnifying dome provides significant enlargement of the internal scales and compass rose.
Diameter: 9.5 cm.
Condition report:
The magnifying glass dome appears clear with internal reflections (photo 2). The turned wooden base shows minor surface wear and small scuffs around the outer edge (photo 2). The compass dial displays slight discoloration and minor particulate under the glass (photo 1). The needle appears intact on its pivot.
