Description

A pair of North Vietnamese military awards from the Vietnam War era. The first award is a silver five-pointed star featuring ball-tipped points and a central red enamel medallion with a gold star. The medallion is surrounded by a red border inscribed with the characters HUAN CHUONG CHIEN CONG. It is suspended from a red silk ribbon decorated with two green vertical stripes and a small silver five-pointed star device. The second award is a silver Resistance Order featuring a central star over a rayed background, set upon a larger four-pointed star base. A circular border around the central motif is inscribed with the characters CHONG MY CUU NUOC. This medal is suspended from a red silk ribbon featuring two white vertical stripes. Both medals utilize simple wire loop suspensions connecting the star-form planchets to their respective silk ribbons.

Condition report:

The top star medal shows minor surface tarnishing to the silver metal and light fraying to the top edges of the red silk ribbon (photo 1). The red enamel on the central medallion remains intact without visible chips. The bottom Resistance Order shows more pronounced oxidation and surface grime across the silver rays and star (photo 1). The accompanying red and white ribbon displays minor discoloration and light fraying at the edges.
