Description

A stoneware slab-built vase featuring an asymmetrical, multi-tiered profile. The vessel is decorated with a variety of relief and incised textures in a modernist style. One face is divided into geometric sections, incorporating a blue-grey wash over three circular motifs and diagonal lines, alongside a section of fine vertical incisions and an upper area with an organic, fibrous texture. The reverse face features a relief-moulded sunflower with a long stem and two leaves at the base. The piece is finished in a matte cream-coloured glaze with dark oxide washes applied to the recessed areas to highlight the textured surface. The base retains a fragmentary paper label printed in a serif font with the characters DEDRA and CONTEMPORARY, alongside handwritten orange marks reading 7/2.
Height: 14.5 cm
Width: 11 cm
Depth: 4 cm.

Condition report:

The vase is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is some minor surface dirt and dark residue within the deeper crevices of the relief-moulded sunflower (photo 3) and the textured sections (photo 1), which appears consistent with the intended oxide wash finish. The paper label on the base shows a significant area of loss (photo 4).
