Description
A Trio of dolls including a large bisque shoulder head doll and two smaller souvenir figures. The central doll features a bisque head with moulded blonde curls and hand-painted fixed blue eyes, mounted on a cloth body with bisque lower limbs. The feet are modelled as black high-heeled boots. The doll is dressed in a handmade pink and cream crochet dress with a wide ruffled collar and a tasseled waist tie.
The second figure is a composition souvenir doll dressed in a traditional Cypriot folk costume. The attire comprises a black jacket with lace trim over a floral-printed blue skirt. A circular paper label is attached to the skirt reading SOUVENIR CYPRUS.
The third figure is a composition souvenir doll dressed in an Eastern European or Central Asian style red satin and velvet-textured garment. The costume is decorated with gold-coloured metallic trim, sequins, and features a tall cylindrical hat topped with a plume. The doll has dark synthetic hair styled in long braids.
Condition report:
The bisque doll shows surface soil and light wear to the face. The black-painted boots show significant paint loss and chipping (photo 1). The Cypriot doll shows minor fraying to the lace trim on the jacket (photo 1). The Eastern European doll appears complete with minor fraying to the delicate fabrics and metallic trim (photo 1).
