Description
A collection of international paper banknotes from various global issuers including Australia, South Korea, Cyprus, Spain, Great Britain, and France. The group features an Australian $10 note depicting A.B. ‘Banjo’ Paterson and Mary Gilmore, alongside several South Korean Won notes including three 1,000 Won notes bearing the portrait of Yi Hwang (serial numbers 2506162, 2302427, and 2506163), a 5,000 Won note featuring Yi I (serial 0600587), and a 500 Won note. The collection also comprises a British £1 note from the Bank of England featuring Queen Elizabeth II and Isaac Newton (serial H71 160114), a Spanish 1,000 Pesetas note from Banco de España featuring Benito Pérez Galdós (serial W8317158 E), a French 20 Francs note from Banque de France featuring Claude Debussy (serial 738802), and two Central Bank of Cyprus notes in £1 and £5 denominations. The notes are printed in a variety of colours including green, purple, blue, and brown, and many represent demonetised currencies.
Condition report:
The collection is in circulated condition with various signs of wear across all pieces. Heavy vertical centre folds and horizontal cross folds are present on the majority of notes (photo 1). Frequent creasing, corner rounding, and soft handling folds are visible throughout the group. Light staining and surface discoloration are present on several specimens, particularly the Australian $10 and Spanish 1,000 Pesetas notes (photo 2). One South Korean 1,000 Won note shows a notable vertical crease through the portrait (photo 1).
