Description

A commemorative Victorian slate plaque featuring a historical monochrome photograph of a horse-drawn covered wagon. The wagon’s canvas cover bears the printed text J. TETLEY & SON LTD BREWERY, LEEDS. Below the image, a printed inscription identifies the material as salvaged from a Yorkshire Square fermenting vessel at the Hunslet Road brewery. The plaque is mounted within a stepped and moulded wooden frame with a glazed front. The lot is accompanied by its original blue card presentation box, which features a gold-foil printed logo depicting a man in a flat cap holding a pint glass, accompanied by the text EST 1822 JOSHUA TETLEY & SON LIMITED WITH COMPLIMENTS.

Width: 33 cm
Height: 28 cm.

Condition report:

The slate plaque and internal printed graphics appear in good condition with no visible chips or fading (photo 2). The wooden frame is structurally sound but displays minor surface scuffs and light wear to the edges consistent with age (photo 1). The blue presentation box shows significant condition issues, including multiple large liquid stains and watermarks to the top surface, along with notable edge wear and surface abrasions (photo 3).
