Description

Two mechanical 8-day time-only carriage clocks. The first is a brass oval carriage clock with four bun feet and a shaped swing handle. The white dial features Roman numeral hour markers, an outer Arabic numeral minute track, and black spade hands. The dial is printed with the text Lowe & Sons CHESTER and MADE IN ENGLAND below the six o’clock position. The movement is visible through a top beveled glass aperture showing a platform escapement. The second is a brass rectangular Corniche style carriage clock featuring a bracket base and a fluted swing handle. The white dial has Roman numeral hour markers and black Breguet-style hands, printed with St James LONDON and MADE IN ENGLAND. Both clocks are constructed with beveled glass panels to all sides. A winding key is present inside the rear door of the St James clock. The back plates of the movements are visible through the rear glass doors.

Height: 12 cm.

Condition report:

Both brass cases exhibit surface oxidation and tarnish, particularly to the top plates and handles (photo 2). The beveled glass panels appear intact with no visible cracks or chips. Dials are clean without evidence of hairline fractures or staining. Movements appear complete, including the platform escapements, though functional state is not tested. The St James clock includes a winding key (photo 4).
