Description
A contemporary Gold Plated fraternal jewel issued for the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes under the Grand Lodge of England. The suspension bar displays decorative scrollwork, engraved with the inscription LEGIONNAIRE LODGE No 9198. The central red ribbon is detailed with yellow stripes and bears an applied monogram reading RAOB over a banner inscribed GLE. A lower scrollwork bar is engraved with the dates 1960-2010. The pendant takes the form of a multi-pointed starburst accented with alternating red and blue enamel rays, surrounding a central medallion with a green enamel ring reading ROYAL ANTEDILUVIAN ORDER OF BUFFALOES encircling an imperial crown and the central numeral 50 on a red enamel ground. The reverse is plain polished metal fitted with a vertical pin brooch fitting.
Condition report:
The jewel is in excellent condition with no visible faults. The enamel elements are complete with no chips, cracks, or losses (photos 1 and 2). The metal surfaces remain bright with no observable loss to the plating. The ribbon is clean, intact, and retains strong colour. The pin assembly on the reverse is fully intact (photo 3).
