Description
A Royal Navy ratings Class II sailor cap, frequently referred to as a Donald Duck cap, featuring a removable white cotton cover over a stiffened circular frame. The base is wrapped with a black silk-effect tally band, secured with a bow to one side. The tally displays the name of the shore establishment in gold wire-effect lettering, reading HMS COLLINGWOOD. The establishment, located in Fareham, Hampshire, serves as the lead school for the Royal Navy Maritime Warfare School. The cap is constructed with a dark navy wool base beneath the white cover and includes a black ribbon chin stay.
Condition report:
The cap is in good condition with the gold lettering on the tally remaining bright and clearly legible. The white cotton top is clean and free from significant yellowing or staining. The black tally and bow are securely attached without visible fraying.
