Lot 93:
Description
A collection of antique utilitarian glass bottles comprising varied medicinal, pharmaceutical, and beverage vessels. The group features moulded glass in clear, aqua, and dark olive-amber colours, displaying various historic lip finishes including flared apothecary rims, rolled lips, and blob tops. Forms include rectangular panelled bottles, cylindrical phials, a vertically ribbed clear chemist bottle, and rounded utility bottles. One aqua bottle features partial raised embossed lettering reading B L L.
Condition report:
Multiple vessels exhibit surface wear consistent with age and excavation, including iridescence, mineral staining, and internal clouding throughout (photos 1, 2, and 3). Chipping and nibbling are visible to the lip finishes of several bottles, particularly noticeable on the mouth rims of the aqua vessels (photos 1 and 3).
