Lot 129:
Description
A Silver Luftwaffe breast eagle of the type worn on the service tunic or flight blouse. The insignia is constructed from stamped metal with a silver finish, depicting a flying eagle in the droop-tail style clutching a mobile swastika in its talons. The reverse of the badge features a hollow-back construction with a horizontal attachment pin and hinge mechanism soldered to the reverse of the wings. The finish shows wear to the high points of the feathers and the swastika, consistent with period use. The reverse of the eagle is plain and bears no visible maker marks or manufacturer codes.
