Description
A porcelain ginger jar of globular form featuring a matching domed cover. The body is decorated in the famille rose style with thick, opaque overglaze enamels. The design is structured in alternating vertical panels, featuring two large cloud-shaped reserves containing a five-clawed dragon amidst clouds and flames on a pale turquoise ground. These alternate with panels of stylised floral blooms on a dark blue ground, separated by iron-red sections with scrolling foliage and white flower heads. The base of the body is finished with a sea and mountain wave border. The lid mirrors the decorative scheme with a central floral medallion. The base features a square red-stamped seal mark reading Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi in seal script.
