Lot 158:
Description
This lot consists of three metal objects including a military ration container, a sporting novelty, and a decorative figurine. The first item is a British military emergency ration tin, typically associated with the Second World War era. The rectangular tin is made of a yellow metal alloy with a silver-tone metal rim. The lid is embossed with instructions stating the contents are only to be consumed when no other rations are procurable and includes opening directions involving a coin and a strip-off band. The second item is a shield-shaped brass plaque for Bourne Golf Club. It features an embossed crest and a humorous text regarding Bye-Law Number 16, dated April 1st 1874, concerning handicaps and the use of ladies tees. The plaque has four mounting holes at the corners. The third item is a cast metal figurine with a dark patina, depicting a stylized figure using a mortar and pestle.
Condition report:
The ration tin displays surface tarnishing and wear commensurate with age. The brass plaque shows light surface oxidation and minor scratches. The cast figurine exhibits some loss of the dark patina and general surface wear.
