Description
A cast metal letter rack or napkin holder featuring a brass and copper-toned finish over a grey white metal alloy, likely spelter. The piece is designed in the Neoclassical revival style, common during the late 19th or early 20th century. The construction consists of two decorative panels joined to a central rectangular base. The exterior surfaces are decorated in relief with swags, tassels, and a central shield-shaped cartouche, while the base is finished with a Greek key-style border. The underside of the base bears a handwritten inscription in black ink reading Ab129 HRH, likely an internal inventory or auction reference. No manufacturer marks or signatures are present.

Condition report:
The item shows an aged patina with surface wear and darkening consistent with age. There are visible deposits of verdigris and oxidation within the recessed areas of the decorative molding. A significant chip and break are present on the front right corner of the base, exposing the underlying grey base metal. Traces of old polish residue are visible on the underside.
