Description

A Dallan developing tank manufactured by David Allan of London, designed for processing large format glass plates or sheet film. The rectangular body is constructed from tinned or nickel-plated brass with a lid featuring a copper-toned patina. The unit contains a removable internal metal rack with twelve slots for holding plates during the development process. The lid is fitted with a wire-loop latch mechanism to secure it to the body. A cylindrical pouring spout with a knurled screw-cap is positioned at an angle on the side of the tank for chemical entry and exit. The top of the lid is stamped with the words DALLAN DEVELOPING TANK in three lines of uppercase letters.

Height: 14 cm

Width: 15 cm.

Condition report:

The item is in fair to good antique condition. There is significant surface oxidation, tarnish, and areas of verdigris on both the interior and exterior, typical for metal equipment used with corrosive photographic chemicals. The lid exhibits a heavy copper-coloured oxidation. The mechanical latch and screw-cap are functional. The internal rack shows surface wear but remains structurally sound with straight slots.
